I am staying at the copacabana palace with a friend in Feb but arrive in Rio ahead of them – where is cheap, and safe to stay that is near there? Friend may be able to afford the hotel but I certainly cant so just want to be somewhere nice and near to the hotel

I’m going to stay at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas for four nights the first week of August. Staying Monday and leaving Friday.
I’ve been to Rio, but only as a tour group to see the parade thing.
It looked like a vibrant hotel.
What were your experience there?
If you took the free shuttle to the strip, was there a long wait?
That’s the only thing I worry about as I will be going to see the shows at the strip motels.
Price there can’t be beat now with the kind of room I’m getting.

My friend and i are traveling to Brazil this June, First we are arriving in Sao Paulo then want to go to Rio de Janeiro, any hotel recommendation in Paulista district – Sao Paulo and also in Copacabana Rio de Janeiro, how to get from Sao to Rio by bus, what about safety there, what about thing to do in both cities? and generally is it a good season for going there?
By the way, we are middle eastern and don’t speak a word of Portuguese!!!
