The Longhouse, which features a 1500 square-foot Trading Post, The Aboriginal Pavilion is located on the plaza of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and each day will be the site of special theme day performances from 11 am to 3 pm celebrating different aboriginal groups from across Canada. From Feb. 12 to 28 the pavilion will also be the venue for aboriginal performances, by artists like Buffy Saint-Marie, the Metis Fiddler Quartet, Mad Eskimo and Joy Harjo as well as traditional drummers and singers from the Four Host First Nations. There’s a new Chief Executive Officer The name of Leonardo Gryner, who occupied the position of Communications and Marketing Director, was announced this Monday Photo: Sérgio Huoliver The president of the Rio 2016 OG Organizing Committee, Carlos Arthur Nuzman, announced this Monday 24th, that Leonardo Gryner is the new Chief Executive Officer of the entity.
Since the beginning of Rio de Janeiro bid to host the 2016 Events, Leonardo Gryner occupied the position of Communications and Marketing director of the 2016 Committee, position he also held during the Rio 2007 Pan American Games. “Leonardo Gryner was with us in all stages of the process, and knows the Rio 2016 project in details. The IOC Coordination Commission evaluation showed that the Games organization is on the right track and, in this new position, Leonardo Gryner will be crucial for us to face the challenges of the coming years”, said Carlos Arthur Nuzman. In February, the 2016 Committee announced the initial working structure and contracted two companies to help with the development of the process.
Odgers & Berndtson, which worked with Vancouver 2010 and London 2012, is selecting executives; while Deloitte provides consulting in building the organizational structure of the Rio 2016 Committee. Following this process, a new Communications and Marketing director will be hired.
